This article presents an attempt at a systematic approach to cooperative forms of economic management in agriculture and rural areas. The authors seek to answer the question of what the
model of agricultural cooperation looks like and what it should look like in the context of a
changing socio-economic and climatic reality. The study emphasises the need to undertake longterm and strategically consistent actions, adequately supported by financial resources, which
are expected to have a positive impact on the creation and operation of new cooperative entities,
such as farmers’ cooperatives and energy cooperatives. A new, eco-friendly model of agriculture cannot be achieved without sustainable measures, and such measures are certainly easier
to develop within cooperative structures characterised by a high degree of democratisation.
